🌟 Polaris, God’s Throne, and the Firmament: A Biblical Cosmology?

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." — Psalm 19:1

In an age where scientific assumptions are often accepted without question, some believers are revisiting ancient cosmology through the lens of Scripture. One such view ties Polaris, the North Star, to God’s throne, offering a vivid re-imagining of heaven’s layout and the structure of the universe.

Let’s explore these claims with discernment, biblical foundation, and humility before the God of all creation.

🧭 Polaris as God's Throne?

The claim is bold: Polaris, the North Star, may mark the location of God’s throne, high above the earth, shining through the firmament.

This idea is partly based on Revelation 4:2-3:

“Behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And He that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”

The colorful glow of Polaris, often showing green and purple hues when viewed through special lenses, is compared to the radiance surrounding God’s throne. The aurora borealis — a wonder near the northern pole — further strengthens the imagery, glowing in greens and blues like a crown of living light.

But is this poetic symbolism or literal geography?

📖 What Scripture (and Enoch) Say About the Heavens

Isaiah 66:1“Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.”
Psalm 103:19“The Lord hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom ruleth over all.”

These verses confirm that God's throne is above, but they are more concerned with exaltation than spatial coordinates.

The Book of Enoch (non-canonical but historically referenced by early Christians) says Enoch saw “the dwelling place of the stars” and the place where the Most High sits above the northern expanse, aligning with some interpretations that link Polaris to the "center" or "eye" of heaven.

🎪 Dome Imagery and the Tabernacle Pattern

"He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." — Isaiah 40:22

Here, God’s creation is likened to a tent or tabernacle, echoing the wilderness Tabernacle of Moses — the first mobile throne room of God on earth. If the heavens are His “tent,” then Polaris, fixed and central, could symbolically represent the "pinnacle" of the dome — an “eye” through which the glory of God shines.

Interestingly, the Hebrew word for “throne” (kisse') can also carry the meaning of a seat of authority or watchpoint — an elevated place.

👁️ Eyes, Thrones, and the Occult Inversion

In Ezekiel 1, the prophet sees living creatures (cherubim) and “wheels within wheels” full of eyes. These "wheels" or "thrones" (Revelation 4:6) are divine, angelic beings, not just furniture.

The "eye" imagery, so often co-opted by occult groups (e.g., the All-Seeing Eye on the dollar bill), is likely a perversion of God’s true omniscient watchfulness.

While occult chaos magic or Masonic orders may hijack symbols like the pyramid, eye, and throne, these originate in God’s creation and Scripture.

Satan can’t create — he only counterfeits and corrupts.

🌍 Flat Earth? Dome Theory? A Brief Word of Wisdom

The flat earth and firmament dome views are gaining traction among believers who are questioning the mainstream cosmological narrative.

Genesis 1:6–8 describes a firmament separating the waters above from the waters below — a concept alien to modern science but consistent with ancient Hebrew cosmology.

While it's intriguing to study, it's crucial that our salvation and spiritual maturity do not rest on cosmological models, but on Jesus Christ alone.

✝️ Final Thoughts: Keep Your Eyes Fixed on the True North — Christ

Regardless of whether Polaris marks God’s literal throne or symbolically reminds us of His rule over creation, the call remains the same:

“Seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” — Colossians 3:1

  • Whether the earth is flat or a globe, we are called to live holy, walk by faith, and proclaim the Gospel.

  • The heavens declare His glory — but Jesus declares His love through the cross.

  • Let’s fix our eyes not on Polaris, but on the One enthroned above it all.

🛡️ The Gospel Invitation

If you’ve been stirred by the wonders of the heavens, now is the time to turn to the Creator Himself:

1️⃣ Acknowledge your sin“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23
2️⃣ Understand the consequence“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” — Romans 6:23
3️⃣ Believe on Jesus“While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
4️⃣ Confess and receive“If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9
5️⃣ Repent and follow Him“Repent, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” — Acts 3:19
