Children of the Light: Living in the Final Hours of a Fading World

"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."

—Ephesians 5:1–2 (KJV)

The call to follow Christ is not passive. It is not cultural. It is not convenient. It is active, costly, and holy. In a world that is spiraling toward moral decay and prophetic fulfillment, the follower of Jesus must walk as children of the light, standing apart from a generation overtaken by darkness.

A Culture of Compromise

Paul’s exhortation to the believers in Ephesus is clear:

“But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.”
—Ephesians 5:3–4 (KJV)

We are not called to blend in with the world. We are called to come out from among them (2 Corinthians 6:17). In an age of increasing vulgarity, immorality, and deception, Paul warns: "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience." (Ephesians 5:6)

This is not mere religious conservatism. It is biblical holiness. The Church has lost its reverence for the holiness of God in many places—and with it, its sense of urgency.

The Days Are Evil — Redeem the Time

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
—Ephesians 5:15–16 (KJV)

We live in days where evil is celebrated and righteousness is ridiculed. To walk circumspectly means to walk with discernment, sobriety, and intention. It is not enough to casually profess Christ—we must prove what is acceptable unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:10), and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness (v.11).

This is not about legalism. It is about light. As Paul writes:

"For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light."
—Ephesians 5:8 (KJV)

A Wake-Up Call to the Sleeping Church

"Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."
—Ephesians 5:14 (KJV)

This is a cry to the modern Church—a Church often lulled to sleep by prosperity, entertainment, and apathy. While the world burns and prophecies unfold, many believers are distracted, divided, and spiritually numb.

Meanwhile, the prophetic clock is ticking.

"But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you... for yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night."
—1 Thessalonians 5:1–2 (KJV)

We are not of the night, but of the day. We are not appointed to wrath, but unto salvation (1 Thessalonians 5:9). Yet the Bride must make herself ready. For judgment begins at the house of God (1 Peter 4:17), and only those walking in the light of Christ will be found faithful.

The Rapture Is Imminent

Make no mistake: the rapture of the Church is not just a doctrinal curiosity—it is a blessed hope (Titus 2:13). But only those who are watching and ready will escape the coming wrath.

“Let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.”
—1 Thessalonians 5:6 (KJV)

“Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
—Matthew 24:44 (KJV)

Time is short. The earth is trembling. The nations are raging. And yet Jesus, our Bridegroom, is calling His people to purity, watchfulness, and devotion.

A Call to Repentance

If you are dabbling in darkness, even secretly, now is the time to awaken. Now is the time to return.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
—1 John 1:9 (KJV)

Do not be deceived by soft words and powerless religion. The wrath of God is coming for the disobedient. But the mercy of God is extended now—to those who will repent, believe, and follow Him in Spirit and in truth.

The Gospel: Your Lifeline in a Dying World

  1. You are a sinner.
     > “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” —Romans 3:23

  2. Sin demands judgment.
     > “For the wages of sin is death...” —Romans 6:23

  3. Jesus paid the penalty.
     > “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” —Romans 5:8

  4. You must respond in faith.
     > “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” —Romans 10:9

  5. Repent and be born again.
     > “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out...” —Acts 3:19

Final Exhortation

The hour is late. The light is fading from the world. But to those who walk in Christ, the light never goes out.

“The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
—Proverbs 4:18 (KJV)

Let us rise as children of the day, filled with the Spirit, walking in holiness, speaking psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, submitting to one another in the fear of God (Ephesians 5:18–21).

Now is not the time to coast.
Now is not the time to conform.
Now is the time to wake up, speak up, and look up—for your redemption draweth nigh.
