πŸ”₯ One Must Die: Why You Can’t Cling to Sin and Walk in the Spirit

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:16, KJV

There’s a war going on inside every believer—and it’s not just a metaphor. It’s the ongoing battle between the flesh and the Spirit. One seeks to enslave you, the other seeks to set you free. But here’s the truth few want to admit:

You cannot walk in habitual sin and walk closely with God at the same time. One will eventually kill the other.

Jesus didn’t die so you could live a double life. He died to set you free.
But freedom doesn’t come without a fight.

🩸 The Flesh Must Die

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”
Romans 8:13, KJV

The flesh—our sinful nature—wants comfort, control, lust, revenge, pride, and pleasure. And it never gets tired.

It doesn’t care if you go to church.
It doesn’t mind if you pray occasionally.
As long as you don’t crucify it.

But the Word says that true followers of Christ must do exactly that:

“And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
Galatians 5:24, KJV

That means you don’t coddle sin. You kill it.

πŸ”„ Either Sin Dies or Intimacy with God Does

Trying to walk with Jesus while nurturing a secret sin is like trying to swim with a lead weight around your neck. You won’t get far—and eventually, you’ll drown.

“No man can serve two masters…”
Matthew 6:24, KJV

Habitual sin hardens your heart, quenches the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19), and leaves you spiritually numb. You may read your Bible, but it won’t penetrate. You may pray, but feel like no one hears.

Why?

Because sin builds walls.
And those walls block the presence of God.

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God…”

Isaiah 59:1–2, KJV

⚔️ Victory Requires Aggression

“Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.”
Hebrews 12:4, KJV

If you want to grow, mature, and walk in power—you must get violent with your sin. Jesus wasn’t soft when talking about it:

“And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off… it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell…”
Mark 9:43, KJV

This is radical repentance.

It means hating the sin—and hating the flesh that produces it.

“Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”
Romans 12:9, KJV

You can’t pamper what you’re supposed to crucify.

🌍 Modern-Day Relevance: Compromise Is Everywhere

We live in a world that excuses sin, renames it, celebrates it—and then says you can still be “spiritual.” But God's Word hasn’t changed:

“Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:16, KJV

This generation needs to rediscover the fear of the Lord and the beauty of sanctification. We’ve made grace cheap—but true grace teaches us to say no to sin:

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,
we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world…”

Titus 2:11–12, KJV

πŸ•Š️ A Spirit-Filled Life Begins with Repentance

You cannot grow in Christ unless you first renounce the sin that is killing you.

  • Not excuse it.

  • Not manage it.

  • Not hide it.

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:
but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Proverbs 28:13, KJV

πŸ™ A Call to Repentance: It’s Time to Get Serious

This is not a message of condemnation—it’s a message of freedom.

God is ready to restore you. To break chains. To fill you with power.
But you must come disgusted with your sin and desperate for His holiness.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Psalm 51:10, KJV

✝️ The Gospel: From Death to Life

  1. Acknowledge your sin.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23)

  1. Realize your need for a Savior.

“The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
(Romans 6:23)

  1. Believe in Christ’s death and resurrection.

“Christ died for our sins… was buried, and… rose again the third day.”
(1 Corinthians 15:3–4)

  1. Confess and receive Him.

“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus… thou shalt be saved.”
(Romans 10:9)

πŸ™ Prayer of Surrender:

“Lord Jesus, I come to You broken and tired. I confess my sin and turn from it. I hate what my flesh has done. I believe You died for me and rose again. Fill me with Your Spirit. Set me free and help me walk in victory. I surrender all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
