The Blind Man and the Dust: A Miracle That Reveals the Mystery of Salvation, Israel, and the End
“And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.”
— John 9:38 (KJV)
Have you ever wondered why Jesus healed a blind man with mud and spit? Why not just speak the word, as He did so many times before? As with every act of Christ, there is more than meets the eye—both literally and spiritually. This miracle is not just a healing. It is a prophetic picture of humanity, salvation, Israel, and the soon-returning King.
π Born Blind: A Picture of the Human Condition
In John 9, Jesus encounters a man born blind—not blinded by accident or age, but blind from birth. This is not incidental. It symbolizes humanity’s natural state: born into spiritual darkness.
“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”
— Psalm 51:5 (KJV)
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not…”
— 2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV)
We are not simply people who make mistakes. We are blind. We are lost. The man in John 9 is all of us—unable to see until Jesus intervenes.
π Dust and Divinity: A Creator’s Touch
Jesus spits on the ground, makes clay, and anoints the man’s eyes with it. Why? Because He is pointing back to Genesis:
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground…”
— Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
Jesus, the Creator (John 1:3), is reenacting the original act of creation. He doesn’t just heal; He recreates. This is the Potter molding the clay once more:
“But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter…”
— Isaiah 64:8 (KJV)
This miracle is not just about physical sight—it’s about spiritual rebirth.
π§ The Pool of Siloam: A Symbol of Salvation
Jesus tells the man to go wash in the Pool of Siloam. Why that pool?
“The same said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.)”
— John 9:7 (KJV)
Siloam means “Sent.” Jesus is the Sent One of God (John 3:17). The man was not healed until he obeyed Jesus’ command and washed. This is salvation: Jesus provides the way, but man must respond in faith.
“And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins…”
— Acts 22:16 (KJV)
π Blindness and Israel: A Prophetic Revelation
The blind man believed, but the Pharisees—the religious elite—rejected the miracle and the Messiah. They could see physically but were blind spiritually:
“For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.”
— John 9:39 (KJV)
This mirrors the current spiritual state of Israel:
“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery... blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.”
— Romans 11:25 (KJV)
Yet God has not cast off His people. A day is coming when they will look upon the One they have pierced:
“And they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him…”
— Zechariah 12:10 (KJV)
⚔️ Miracles Are Invitations, Not Just Events
Jesus could have healed instantly. But instead, He gave the man a command—to go and wash. Why? Because faith must act.
“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
— James 2:20 (KJV)
The miracle wasn’t complete until the man obeyed. And when his eyes were opened?
“He said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.”
— John 9:38 (KJV)
⏳ What About You? Can You See?
We live in prophetic times. Global deception is increasing. Evil is called good. Israel is in the headlines. The nations are stirring. And yet, many remain spiritually blind.
Are your eyes open? Or are you still clinging to the darkness?
π₯ A Call to Repentance
If you feel the tug of conviction, don’t harden your heart. The same Jesus who gave sight to the blind is calling you out of darkness.
“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
— John 3:3 (KJV)
“The times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.”
— Acts 17:30 (KJV)
