Don’t Bury It: Your Gift Is Someone Else’s Breakthrough

“A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”
Proverbs 18:16 (KJV)

We live in a world where countless people are walking around gifted but not purposeful—endowed with divine ability but unsure of its meaning. From musicians to teachers, from writers to builders, the earth is full of individuals carrying God-given gifts that remain dormant, not because they lack potential, but because they lack direction or courage.

But let this truth resonate deeply: your gift is not just about you.
According to Scripture, it was never meant to serve you alone. Your gift is often the key to someone else's breakthrough.

Giftedness vs. Purpose: There’s a Difference

Being gifted is a state of ability, but walking in purpose is a state of obedience.

Many people confuse the two. You can sing, teach, write, or encourage, but until that gift is surrendered to God's purpose, it remains a buried treasure—untapped and unseen.

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
1 Peter 4:10

You are not just a carrier of talent—you are a steward of purpose. And the Giver of the gift expects that it be used to serve, bless, and uplift others.

The Danger of Hiding What God Has Entrusted

In Matthew 25:14–30, Jesus tells the parable of the talents. Three servants receive gifts—measured not equally, but according to their ability. Two invest and multiply. One hides his gift in fear.

What happened?

“Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.”
Matthew 25:28

The one who buried his gift lost it. Why? Because God doesn’t bless fear, complacency, or laziness. He blesses faithful obedience.

Many today are burying their gifts under insecurity, distraction, or a fear of failure—yet wondering why their life feels aimless or spiritually stagnant. But here’s the truth: God didn’t give you a gift to be hidden. He gave it to be multiplied.

Purpose Is Activated Through Surrender

It took me years before I finally started this blog.  I prayed to God to make me useful and He lead me to this path.

That is purpose in action.

Your testimony, your wisdom, your creativity—when submitted to God—becomes a vessel of transformation for others.

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony...”
Revelation 12:11

This world needs your voice, your story, your song, your service. Someone’s breakthrough is attached to your obedience.

Modern-Day Application: Global Voices, Local Impact

In today’s digitally connected world, your gift can travel farther and faster than ever. Blogs, podcasts, videos, and music can reach hearts across the globe. But they won’t go anywhere if they stay trapped in fear or self-doubt.

Meanwhile, the world is reeling from wars, moral confusion, identity crises, and spiritual famine. Governments are shaken. Economies are unstable. Truth is under attack.

Now more than ever, the church must rise—not just in preaching, but in purposeful living. Your gift is not just personal—it is prophetic. It is a tool God wants to use to shine light in a dark generation.

A Call to Repentance

Have you buried your gift? Have you allowed fear, pride, or distraction to keep you from obedience?

Now is the time to repent.

“Neglect not the gift that is in thee...”
1 Timothy 4:14

God has not given you a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). He’s given you a Spirit of power. Today, dust off the gift. Dig it up. Put it back in God’s hands. Let Him breathe on it. Let Him use it.

The Gospel Invitation

Before you can walk in divine purpose, you must first walk in divine relationship. Purpose flows from identity, and identity begins at the cross.

  1. Recognize your sin“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

  2. Acknowledge the consequence“The wages of sin is death...” (Romans 6:23)

  3. Receive God’s gift“But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

  4. Believe and confess“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

Salvation is not just the end of sin—it’s the beginning of purpose.

Conclusion

You are not here by accident. You were not created to survive—you were called to impact. Your gift is sacred. Your story is valuable. And your obedience is the bridge to someone else's freedom.

Don't bury it.

Let God use it.

Start today.
