Faithful with a Few: Investing Your Life for the Kingdom of God
“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant:
thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things:
enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
— Matthew 25:21, KJV
Jesus spoke in parables not to confuse us, but to reveal eternal truth to those who were willing to hear. In Matthew 25, He tells the parable of the talents—a story about a master who entrusts his servants with varying amounts of wealth, and then returns to evaluate their stewardship.
This isn’t just a lesson about money. It’s a powerful end-times parable about what we do with what God has entrusted to us—our time, our talents, our influence, and our calling.
The Parable of the Talents: A Kingdom Investment Strategy
“For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country,
who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.”
— Matthew 25:14, KJV
Each servant in this story received something. One received five talents, another two, and another one—each according to their ability. The point? God does not give everyone the same measure—but He does expect a return from everyone.
The first two servants multiplied what they were given. The third buried it in fear. When the master returned, he rewarded the faithful and rebuked the idle.
This is not about financial success. This is about spiritual responsibility.
“For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.”
— Luke 12:48, KJV
What Has God Placed in Your Hands?
You may not have a stage or a spotlight—but you have a voice.
You may not be wealthy—but you have influence.
You may not be a theologian—but you know the truth.
“As every man hath received the gift,
even so minister the same one to another,
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
— 1 Peter 4:10, KJV
If you’ve been given encouragement, speak it.
If you’ve been given time, offer it.
If you’ve been given wisdom, share it.
If you’ve been given resources, sow them into something eternal.
Faithfulness in a Time of Crisis
In this late hour of history—with wars, deception, and lawlessness increasing—how we steward our lives matters more than ever. The world is distracted. Many in the church are asleep. But God is looking for faithful servants who will use what they’ve been given for His Kingdom, not their own comfort.
“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
— Ephesians 5:16, KJV
In the parable, the faithful were not rewarded for volume, but for faithfulness. The man with two talents received the same reward as the man with five—not because of what he had, but because of what he did with it.
The Cost of Burying Your Gift
The third servant in Jesus’ parable buried his talent. He made excuses. He feared failure. He misunderstood the heart of his master. And what happened?
“Thou wicked and slothful servant… cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
— Matthew 25:26, 30, KJV
Let that sink in. This is not just laziness—it’s rebellion cloaked in fear. It’s hearing the gospel, receiving a gift, and doing nothing with it.
We are accountable for what we know. To do nothing is not neutral—it’s disobedient.
A Call to Repentance: Get Back in the Game
If you’ve been burying what God gave you—whether due to fear, distraction, or doubt—today is the day to dig it back up. The Lord is returning soon. And He will ask:
“What did you do with what I gave you?”
“Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give thee light.”
— Ephesians 5:14, KJV
The Gospel: Your Greatest Investment
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world,
and lose his own soul?”
— Mark 8:36, KJV
Before you can steward God’s gifts, you must receive His greatest one—salvation through Jesus Christ. We were all born in sin, separated from a holy God. But Jesus died in our place, rose from the grave, and offers eternal life to all who will repent and believe.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.”
— Romans 10:9, KJV
Don’t waste another moment. Repent. Turn to Christ. Receive His Spirit—and use what He gave you to multiply eternal fruit.
Final Word: Be Faithful with What You Have
God isn’t asking you to do what someone else can do.
He’s asking you to do what He gave you to do.
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
— 1 Corinthians 4:2, KJV
So today, invest in someone. Speak a word of truth. Pray with someone in need. Share the gospel. Encourage the weary. And whatever you do—do it all to the glory of God.
Because when the Master returns, the greatest words you will ever hear are:
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
