Live Your Truth or Follow The Truth? Exposing the Lie of Self-Worship in the Last Days

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
— John 14:6 (KJV)

We are living in an age where the most dangerous doctrines don’t come from outside the Church—they come from within.

It’s no longer shocking to see celebrities, influencers, and even pastors declaring, “Live your truth.” What is shocking is that this phrase is now widely embraced by professing Christians, often in defense of lifestyles that are explicitly condemned by the Word of God.

But let’s be clear—“live your truth” is not biblical.
It’s not loving.
And it’s not Christ.

The Rise of Self-Deification

We live in a generation steeped in the religion of self.

From “manifest your destiny” to “speak your truth,” the language of modern culture is rooted in prideful autonomy. It celebrates the self as sovereign, the heart as infallible, and the emotions as the highest moral compass.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves…”

— 2 Timothy 3:1–2 (KJV)

Living “your truth” sounds virtuous. But what does Scripture say about the heart?

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
— Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)

The truth is not something that originates within you.
The truth is a person—and His name is Jesus.

What Does “Living Your Truth” Really Mean?

Let’s say it plainly:
To “live your truth” means to reject God’s truth in favor of your own feelings, desires, and worldview.

And Scripture is crystal clear about what happens when people do that.

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
— Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)

If your truth doesn’t align with The Truth—Jesus Christ—it is a lie.
No matter how affirming, emotional, or celebrated it is by the culture or even the church.

The Danger of Unbiblical Compassion

Compassion is a virtue.
But compassion that affirms sin is not love—it is spiritual negligence.

On social media, it’s not uncommon to see professing Christians posting content that affirms sinful lifestyles while quoting Scripture about love and grace. But this is a dangerous twisting of God’s Word.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears…”
— 2 Timothy 4:3 (KJV)

True grace never leaves us in sin.
It calls us out of it.

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid.”

— Romans 6:1–2 (KJV)

If your version of grace tells you that God wants you to stay in your sin, you are not hearing the Gospel—you are hearing deception.

Calling Sin What It Is

Sin is not a preference.
Sin is not a lifestyle.
Sin is rebellion against a holy God.

When people claim to be Christians but walk in willful rebellion—while using phrases like “a loving God wouldn’t want me to suffer”—they are not worshiping the God of Scripture.
They are worshiping a god made in their image.

“Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee…”
— Psalm 50:21 (KJV)

The God of the Bible is loving—but His love is holy. His mercy is real—but it is only available through repentance and faith in Christ.

The Way of the Cross Is Not the Way of Self

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
— Matthew 16:24 (KJV)

Following Jesus requires death to self—not embracing self as savior.

“Live your truth” exalts the self.
Jesus calls you to crucify the self.

This false gospel of self-acceptance without repentance is a Luciferian doctrine cloaked in modern language. Remember, Satan’s fall began with the words, “I will exalt my throne… I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:13–14).

Self-exaltation is not new.
It is the original rebellion.

A Call to Repentance

If you've embraced or promoted the idea of "living your truth" while ignoring the clear commands of Scripture, now is the time to repent.

God is not calling you to find yourself.
He is calling you to lose yourself for His sake (Matthew 10:39).

You cannot follow Christ while holding onto your own truth.
There is only one Truth—and His name is Jesus.

The Gospel Message

  1. You are a sinner.
     > “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

  2. Your sin separates you from God.
     > “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23)

  3. But Jesus took your place.
     > “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

  4. You must repent and believe.
     > “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

Your truth can’t save you.
Only The Truth can.
Turn to Him today—before it's too late.
