Experience It: Embracing Life Through a Biblical Lens
There is a sacred rhythm woven into every life a combination of triumph and trial, laughter and labor, tears and transformation. While we often rush through seasons in pursuit of the next breakthrough, Scripture invites us to slow down and experience each moment with eternal purpose.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV)
Your job, your family, your struggles, even the interruptions these are not distractions from your spiritual life. They are your spiritual life. Life in Christ is not about escaping the experience but encountering God in the middle of it.
The Joy and Friction of Real Life
From raising children to securing a home, from celebrating promotions to enduring spiritual battles life is made up of experiences. And while some bring joy, others expose our flesh, fatigue, or frustration. Even after prayer. Even after time in the Word. Even when you know you are walking with God.
Why? Because experience is where faith becomes real.
“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work,
that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
(James 1:3–4, KJV)
God does not waste a moment. Every experience whether seemingly mundane or deeply painful serves a purpose in shaping us for eternity.
The Spiritual Discipline of Presence
Too often, we let distractions or expectations rob us of the beauty found in the present. Instead of enjoying the laughter of our children, we’re focused on the mess. Instead of seeing answered prayers unfold, we fixate on what’s still lacking.
But what if we chose instead to experience it?
“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24, KJV)
This day. Not yesterday’s guilt. Not tomorrow’s stress. Today. The Lord made it. And He is moving in it even if your laundry needs folding, even if your motivation feels low.
The fruit of the Spirit is not reserved for mountaintop moments. It is to be lived out in diapers, deadlines, dishes, and devotion.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.”
(Galatians 5:22, KJV)
Experience Is Preparation for Eternity
This life is a testing ground, a place of preparation for a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. Every high and low, every sacred and simple moment, is refining you for glory.
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
(2 Corinthians 4:17, KJV)
Even what you call “interruptions” may be divine appointments in disguise. Embrace them. Lead with God. Be the light wherever you go, not because it’s easy, but because it’s eternal.
A Call to Repentance
Perhaps you've been rushing through life without seeing the hand of God in your experiences. Perhaps you’ve been numb to the spiritual work He’s doing in the ordinary. Repent. Return. Realign.
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;
and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
(James 4:8, KJV)
Let today be the day you experience God not just in your Bible study, but in your dishes. In your children. In your exhaustion. In your errands.
The Gospel: The Most Transformative Experience of All
The greatest experience one can ever have is not just with life but with new life in Jesus Christ. Your eternity doesn’t begin at death. It begins at the moment of salvation.
All have sinned.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Sin brings death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Jesus paid the price.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Confess and believe.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Conclusion
Experience it.
Not just the mountaintops, but the valleys.
Not just the moments you prayed for, but the moments you didn’t plan for.
God is working in all of it.
Life is not random. It is refining. So don’t waste the moment wishing it away. Walk it out. Watch God work. And be the light wherever you go. You will miss this one day. So embrace it now with gratitude, with faith, and with open eyes to see the eternal in the everyday.
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:18, KJV)
