The Rise of the Fourth Beast: Daniel 7 and the Vision of the Eagle and the Lion
“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
—Amos 3:7 (KJV)
We are living in a time foretold by prophets, hidden in plain sight within the Holy Scriptures especially in Daniel 7 and 2 Esdras 11–14. On June 18, 2025, the Lord confirmed these revelations through a vision: a lion with eagle wings, standing upright like a man, and beside it, an eagle with multiple heads. The Spirit of God directed this vision’s interpretation through the Book of Daniel and the apocalyptic writings of Ezra. These are not disconnected symbols. They are direct, prophetic announcements of what is now unfolding on earth.
I. Daniel’s Vision: The Four Beasts (Daniel 7)
“Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.”
—Daniel 7:2–3 (KJV)
The four beasts represent four successive world empires, rising from the chaos of the “great sea” (nations and peoples; cf. Revelation 17:15).
-
The Lion with Eagle’s Wings (Daniel 7:4)
This first beast mirrors the vision given a lion (often symbolizing Babylon) with eagle’s wings (symbolic of swiftness and domination). It is transformed: its wings are torn off, it is made to stand like a man, and given a human heart. This depicts a shift from beastly rule to humanized authority possibly a warning of a deceptive power masked in civility. -
The Bear with Three Ribs (Daniel 7:5)
Likely representing Medo-Persia, a lopsided power, ravenous in conquest. -
The Leopard with Four Wings and Four Heads (Daniel 7:6)
Commonly interpreted as Greece under Alexander the Great, whose empire swiftly divided after his death. -
The Dreadful Fourth Beast (Daniel 7:7–8)
This final beast is unique iron teeth, bronze claws, ten horns, and one little horn with a mouth speaking boastfully.
“The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth.”
—Daniel 7:23 (KJV)
This fourth kingdom is a global empire, surpassing its predecessors in oppression, technology, and deception. Its ten horns represent ten kings. The little horn, who subdues three kings, is described as:
-
Speaking against the Most High (Daniel 7:25)
-
Persecuting the saints
-
Attempting to change set times and laws
-
Ruling for a “time, times, and the dividing of time”
“But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.”
—Daniel 7:26 (KJV)
II. The Apocryphal Key: The Eagle and 2 Esdras
The Spirit then pointed toward 2 Esdras particularly chapters 11 through 14. In this vision, the eagle emerges from the sea, symbolizing a continuation of the fourth beast.
“The eagle, whom thou sawest come up from the sea, is the fourth kingdom.”
—2 Esdras 12:11 (KJV-style translation)
This eagle has twelve wings, three heads, and many smaller wings. The heads represent the final oppressive kings those most vile and blasphemous. The middle head, more powerful than the others, devours all and dominates the world. Yet, it too is judged.
The lion appears again:
“The lion, whom thou sawest rising up out of the wood, and roaring and speaking to the eagle... is the anointed, which the Highest hath kept for them and for their wickedness unto the end.”
—2 Esdras 12:31–32
This lion is none other than the Messiah, the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5). He confronts the beast, judges the nations, and delivers the righteous remnant.
III. The Man from the Sea: Christ’s Second Coming (2 Esdras 13)
“And, lo, there arose a wind from the sea, that it moved all the waves thereof.
And I beheld, and, lo, that man waxed strong with the thousands of heaven: and when he turned his countenance to look, all the things trembled.”
—2 Esdras 13:2–3 (KJV-style)
Ezra then sees a man rising from the sea, Jesus Christ, coming in glory. Without lifting a sword, He slays His enemies by the breath of His mouth and the word of His power.
“And then shall that Wicked be revealed... whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.”
—2 Thessalonians 2:8 (KJV)
IV. Time Is Up: The 12 Parts of History (2 Esdras 14)
The Lord explains to Ezra that the world has been divided into twelve segments of time. As of Ezra’s day (circa 516 B.C.), nine and a half segments had passed. Only two and a half remain.
“The age is divided into twelve parts, and nine parts and a half of the tenth part are already past.”
—2 Esdras 14:11–12
That was over 2,500 years ago.
The twelfth segment is here. The clock has struck midnight.
V. A Call to Prepare
“Set thine house in order, and reprove thy people, comfort such of them as be in trouble...
and put off now the weak nature... and hasten to flee from these times.”
—2 Esdras 14:13–15
The Lord is calling His remnant to:
-
Renounce corruption
-
Lay aside worldly burdens
-
Be like the five wise virgins (Matthew 25:1–13)
-
Keep their lamps filled with oil
-
Stay alert, for the Bridegroom comes
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
All have sinned.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Sin brings death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Jesus paid the price.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Confess and believe.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Conclusion: Midnight Has Come
The visions of Daniel and Ezra converge to reveal one truth: we are in the final hour. The fourth beast is already devouring. The eagle has risen. The world groans under deception, violence, and rebellion.
Yet the Lion is coming. The Son of Man will descend with power and glory. His dominion will not pass away, and His Kingdom shall never be destroyed.
Will you be ready?
