What Are You Sitting On? The Power of Obedience in the Voice of God
Many believers cry out, “Lord, speak to me!” But what if the silence we sense is not God’s absence, but our disobedience?
Often, God has spoken. He has revealed. He has prompted. But instead of acting, we hesitate. We wait for confirmation, for comfort, or for consensus. In doing so, we miss the supernatural power that flows through obedience.
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
(James 1:22, KJV)
When God puts something on your spirit a word, an idea, a task, a call it is not a suggestion. It is an invitation to partner with Heaven.
The Seed of Obedience Carries Generational Impact
That prompting in your spirit might seem small. A conversation. A post. A prayer. A phone call. But when it comes from God, it carries eternal weight.
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying,
This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
(Isaiah 30:21, KJV)
God is still speaking. But He often does so after we obey. If you’re waiting on Him to give you the next thing, yet ignoring the last thing, you may be sitting on a seed that’s meant to shift not just your life but someone else’s.
“He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.”
(Ecclesiastes 11:4, KJV)
Many of us are waiting for “better conditions.” But the Kingdom doesn’t operate on comfort. It operates on faithful obedience.
Stop Saying God is Silent When You’re Disobedient
It is deception to expect fresh revelation without surrendered application. God is not in the business of entertaining us. He is building His Kingdom through vessels who are willing to move, speak, and act when He leads.
“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
(1 Samuel 15:22, KJV)
God will not give you new instructions if you’re still sitting on the last ones. Partial obedience is still disobedience.
What You're Holding Might Be Someone Else’s Answer
The prompting on your spirit is not just for you. It might be a lifeline for someone else.
“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”
(1 Corinthians 3:7, KJV)
We plant. God multiplies. But He cannot increase what we refuse to sow.
That blog you were supposed to write.
That testimony you were supposed to share.
That ministry you were supposed to start.
That word you were supposed to deliver.
If you’re waiting until you feel “ready,” consider this: obedience has never been about readiness. It’s about faith.
A Call to Repentance
If you’ve ignored the still, small voice. If you’ve buried the seed out of fear, shame, or apathy God is calling you to repentance.
“Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness.”
(Hebrews 3:8, KJV)
This is not condemnation. It’s mercy. The Father is reminding you that your obedience still matters. The assignment is still active. The seed is still good. But it must be sown.
The Gospel: The First Step of Obedience
Before we can obey God’s voice in daily assignments, we must first respond to His eternal invitationthe Gospel. He is not only calling us to service, but to salvation.
All have sinned.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Sin brings death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Jesus paid the price.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Confess and believe.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Conclusion
God may not shout. He may not send a sign in the sky. But if He has placed something on your spirit go for it. Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Don’t wait for affirmation. Don’t wait for a platform. Obedience is the platform. Obedience is the miracle.
You are not just holding an idea. You’re holding a seed. And someone’s breakthrough may depend on your willingness to plant it.
So rise. Repent. Obey. And watch what God does with what you’re willing to surrender.
