From Striving to Rest: A Call into the Faith-Rest Life
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him.
Psalm 37:7a (KJV)
We are a generation taught to hustle, to build, to achieve but in the Kingdom of God, fruitfulness flows from stillness. In these turbulent times, as the world teeters on the edge of prophetic fulfillment, God is calling His children away from the frenzy of striving and into the sacred strength of rest.
The Lord reminded me that anxiety and striving are the worst of enemies to your peace. And as I bring this message forward, I do so with a sense of urgency for the Body of Christ. The hour is late. We must learn to walk in the supernatural stillness of His Spirit.
The Secret Place: Where Strength is Formed
I have taught you in the secret place and you have learned the ways of My Spirit.
True discipleship begins not on the platform, but in the secret place. Jesus Himself often withdrew to pray (Luke 5:16). In the busyness of ministry, He prioritized solitude with the Father. This is where spiritual strength is forged.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Matthew 6:6 (KJV)
It is in this hidden space that we learn the cadence of His voice. It is here that striving ceases and identity is reaffirmed.
Striving Versus Resting: A Kingdom Contrast
To strive is to leave My strength and embrace the cares of life.
Striving often masquerades as diligence, but it is a cheap counterfeit of Spirit-led obedience. When we strive, we carry burdens God never assigned. We attempt to control outcomes God never called us to manage.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV)
This is not laziness it is divine dependence. It is releasing the illusion of control and resting in the sovereignty of a God who never sends us to fail.
The War Against Anxiety in an Age of Overload
Anxiety and striving are the worst of enemies to your peace.
In a world saturated with bad news, constant alerts, and increasing uncertainty, anxiety has become normalized. Yet Scripture clearly calls us to a different way:
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7 (KJV)
The “peace that passeth all understanding” is not found in a political resolution, financial security, or digital detox. It is found in the quietness of trusting God not just with our eternity, but with our today.
When Grace Assigns, Grace Empowers
When I give you a task, I give you the grace to accomplish it.
God does not delegate in order to watch us fail. Every divine calling comes with divine equipping.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)
If you are feeling overwhelmed, ask yourself: Did God assign this? Or am I carrying it on my own authority? His grace is always sufficient but only for what He assigns.
The Illusion of Control: Letting God Work in Others
Many of my children are trying to correct the path of another, not knowing that I am at work in them.
We must resist the temptation to play the Holy Spirit in someone else's life. Zeal without knowledge can become control disguised as concern.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
Until we come up higher into His light, we will misunderstand all that He is doing. The mature believer prays more than they speak, trusts more than they intervene, and intercedes more than they criticize.
Faith-Rest Life: A Kingdom Posture
To refuse to strive means you will enter into the faith-rest life that I give to all those who love Me.
This is not just a lifestyle it is a prophetic necessity. As the world grows darker, the Kingdom will become brighter. But only those who have learned to walk in faith-rest will radiate with that light.
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:9–10 (KJV)
Rest is warfare. Rest is faith in motion. Rest is trust that the outcome belongs to God.
Modern Day Relevance: The Sabbath Joy We’ve Forgotten
This is the day of Sabbath joy when you will enter into the realm of My kingdom.
In a world of 24/7 connection and hyperproductivity, Sabbath is countercultural. Yet it is profoundly prophetic.
Sabbath rest is not about legalism it is about Lordship. It is a holy declaration that we trust God more than our grind.
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.
Mark 2:27 (KJV)
As we approach the climax of the age, those who walk in Sabbath joy not just weekly, but continually will stand as signs and wonders to a restless world.
A Call to Repentance
Beloved, have you been striving in your own strength? Have you carried what God never called you to carry? Have you sought to fix others while ignoring the call to stillness?
The Lord is calling you higher not by effort, but by surrender.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
James 4:8a (KJV)
Lay down your burdens. Lay down your striving. Enter into the joy of faith-rest. There is still time to return to Him but the time is short.
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Romans 13:11 (KJV)
The Gospel: How to Receive Eternal Life
-
All have sinned.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23 (KJV) -
Sin brings death.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (KJV) -
Jesus paid the price.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (KJV) -
Confess and believe.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Conclusion: Choose Rest Over Restlessness
The prophetic shaking has begun. The days are evil, but the invitation remains: Come unto Me and rest. In a time when fear dominates and striving is glorified, God is setting apart a people of peace. These are they who will shine with the light of Christ not by effort, but by intimacy.
Will you enter the faith-rest life? Will you trade your burdens for His presence?
He is waiting in the quiet.
