The Hiding Place: Resting in the Shadow of His Wings
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1 (KJV)
In these perilous times where fear has become a currency and anxiety is a daily companion God’s people must remember that there is a hiding place not built by human hands. The world offers distractions, temporary comforts, and false assurances, but none of these can shield the soul from the storm. Only the Lord can.
"I care deeply for you, My child. There is nothing you feel or experience that I don’t also carry you through."
This divine reassurance echoes throughout Scripture. Our High Priest is not distant or detached. He is deeply acquainted with our grief, touched with the feeling of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15). When life brings its trials, He brings us higher not just out of difficulty, but into the very presence of God.
The Shadow of His Wings Is Not Confusion
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
Psalm 17:8 (KJV)
“The shadow you see is not one of confusion, but of My wings.”
In a world filled with uncertainty, digital overload, and false light, it is easy to misinterpret the shadow of God’s protection as darkness. But what the enemy labels “confusion” is often simply the absence of worldly clarity and the presence of divine covering. The shadow of His wings is where the believer is hidden, protected, and transformed.
When you walk closely with God, He doesn’t always explain He covers. He doesn’t always reveal He shields. He doesn’t always speak immediately He shelters.
In His Presence, All Cry ‘Glory’
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Psalm 5:11 (KJV)
“No one says, ‘I am afraid.’ It is never heard in My glory, ‘I am poor.’”
Why? Because His presence transforms lack into fullness. The soul that was once weary becomes rooted. The mind once tormented by fear finds peace. His Spirit brings strength for the journey and provision for the hour. In a world driven by materialism and social validation, this is radical: in God’s presence, you lack nothing.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1 (KJV)
Modern Distractions vs. Eternal Security
Consider this generation. Artificial intelligence dictates our schedules. Notifications rob us of quiet moments. Technology, while convenient, has lured many away from the secret place. What once was a daily time of communion is now reduced to hurried devotionals. But the Lord pleads:
“Come into the shelter of My shadow, where all My lovers are washed, robed, crowned, and seated with Me.”
This is kingdom reality. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). We are His beloved, not His afterthought. And He is still calling us out from the noise and into the quiet glory of His presence.
A Shelter in the Coming Storm
The world is groaning. Wars and rumors of wars (Matthew 24:6), moral collapse, economic instability, and a rising global system that mirrors Revelation’s warnings these are not coincidences. They are the birth pangs of prophecy unfolding before our eyes.
But in all this, there is a promise:
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
Psalm 91:5–6 (KJV)
Even in tribulation, there is peace. Even in collapse, there is covering. Not because the world will grow kinder it won’t but because God’s glory is our shield and exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1).
A Call to Repentance
Beloved, if you’ve wandered if you’ve traded His presence for performance, His peace for productivity today is the day to return.
The hiding place is not closed. The shadow of His wings is still extended. He is calling.
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55:6–7 (KJV)
The Gospel of Eternal Shelter
The greatest danger is not suffering on earth it is eternal separation from God. But Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died to reconcile you to the Father. Through His death and resurrection, He opened the way into the eternal hiding place salvation.
-
All have sinned.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23 (KJV) -
Sin brings death.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (KJV) -
Jesus paid the price.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (KJV) -
Confess and believe.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
You can enter into the shadow of His wings not just for this life, but for eternity.
Conclusion
I testify from the depth of my soul: there is no better place than the presence of the Lord. I have dwelled in both joy and trial, and yet I have never lacked in the shelter of His love. He has robed me in righteousness, crowned me with peace, and seated me in assurance.
You are invited to the same. Lay down your fear. Come out of the storm. Rest in the hiding place of His glory now and forever.
