The Favor of the Son: Our Identity and Destiny in Christ
I. The Eternal Exchange: What Christ Carried and What We Received
At the very heart of redemption lies a divine exchange, Christ taking upon Himself what humanity deserved and imparting to believers what only He deserves. This exchange is the cornerstone of salvation and the essence of God’s favor toward His children.
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
Through the cross, Jesus bore our punishment, shame, and separation from God so that we could receive His righteousness, inheritance, and favor. This exchange was not symbolic, it was literal and eternal.
In modern terms, this is more than forgiveness; it is placement. The believer is not merely cleansed but positioned in Christ. When God looks upon His redeemed, He does not see a sinner trying to earn approval; He sees His Son reflected in the believer’s spirit.
“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
Ephesians 1:6 (KJV)
This “acceptance in the Beloved” means that every believer stands before God with the same favor that Jesus Himself enjoys.
II. Accepted in the Beloved: The Father’s Unchanging View
Few truths are more transformative than understanding that God loves His children with the same love He has for His Son. This truth was revealed in Jesus’ own prayer:
“And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me… that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”
John 17:22–23 (KJV)
This prayer unveils the depth of divine inclusion, the believer is drawn into the eternal fellowship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are not outsiders looking in but participants in God’s own relational love.
To be “in Christ” means to share in His standing before the Father. What He deserves, we receive. What He endured, we escape. This is the great reversal of the Gospel.
In an age of identity confusion, social rejection, and moral instability, the revelation of divine acceptance is revolutionary. The world teaches people to define themselves by achievements, feelings, or failures. God defines us by Christ alone.
III. The Transforming Power of Divine Favor
When believers begin to live from this identity rather than striving toward it, transformation occurs naturally. The grace that saved us is the same grace that empowers us to walk in holiness and victory.
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.”
Titus 2:11–12 (KJV)
Grace is not a passive pardon, it is an active power. The indwelling Christ enables us to do the works of Jesus, not through self-effort, but through Spirit-led obedience.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
John 14:12 (KJV)
This favor is not abstract, it manifests in visible ways. Miracles, transformed lives, and acts of divine compassion are all the fruit of God’s favor working through His people. When the Church fully understands her identity in Christ, she becomes the vessel through which heaven touches earth.
IV. Reflecting the Glory of the Son
God’s ultimate purpose for His people is that they reflect the glory of His Son. Paul describes this divine progression in 2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV):
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
The more we behold Christ, through Scripture, prayer, and surrender, the more His image is formed within us. This process of sanctification is not behavior modification but transformation through revelation.
In a prophetic sense, this transformation is critical for the times we are entering. As global systems collapse and spiritual deception increases, the world will not be won by intellectual argument but by radiant believers who carry the presence and power of Christ.
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
Romans 8:19 (KJV)
Creation itself is groaning for the revelation of a people who know who they are in Christ, people who walk in the authority of divine favor, not the insecurity of human striving.
V. The Prophetic Significance: Identity Amid Global Upheaval
In the current age of spiritual warfare, social upheaval, and rapid technological control, identity is under attack. The enemy knows that if believers forget who they are in Christ, they will surrender the authority that was purchased for them at Calvary.
The world system promotes self-worship and human sovereignty, mirroring the rebellion of Babel (Genesis 11). Governments and corporations now experiment with merging technology and biology, attempting to redefine humanity itself. This aligns with the prophetic warnings of Daniel 2:43, where iron (technology and power) mingles with clay (humanity), producing instability and rebellion against God’s design.
Yet amid this, God is revealing His eternal plan: to raise a people who carry the likeness of His Son and resist the counterfeit image of the beast (Revelation 13:15).
The Church’s victory in this hour will not come through cultural influence but through identity, knowing that we are already seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). The true believer must live from heaven’s perspective, not earth’s panic.
VI. Living as Sons and Daughters: The Outflow of Divine Favor
The love that the Father has for the Son now flows through us as an unending river. It is not dependent on our performance but on our position. This love produces three vital realities in the life of a believer:
-
Rest in God’s acceptance.
We no longer strive to earn approval but rest in the finished work of the cross. -
Authority in prayer and purpose.
When we know our position in Christ, our prayers shift from begging to partnering with heaven.“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2:6 (KJV) -
Reflection of God’s character.
The Spirit transforms our motives and desires, producing love, purity, and boldness that draw others to Christ.
This is what the Lord meant when He said, “I will treat you with the favor that Jesus deserves.” The Church that walks in this revelation will usher in one of the greatest displays of divine glory since Pentecost.
VII. A Call to Repentance and Faith
All have sinned.
• “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” , Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Sin brings death.
• “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” , Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Jesus paid the price.
• “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” , Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Confess and believe.
• “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” , Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Steps to Salvation:
-
Admit your sin and need for a Savior.
-
Believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again for you.
-
Confess Him as Lord and receive His Spirit.
-
Live as one accepted in the Beloved, walking in His favor and power.
Conclusion
To be “in Christ” is to live from a position of unshakable identity and divine favor. The Father’s love toward the Son has become His love toward us. This truth is the foundation for endurance in the days ahead and the catalyst for revival in the nations.
As global systems tremble and deception increases, the Lord is raising a people who know who they are, sons and daughters reflecting His glory on earth. This is not merely theology; it is destiny.
You are not striving for favor, you are standing in it.
You are not earning love, you are enveloped by it.
You are not waiting for acceptance, you have already been welcomed into the eternal fellowship of the Father, Son, and Spirit.
Now rise, beloved, and reflect His glory. The favor that Jesus deserves is the favor that rests upon you.
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.”
1 John 4:17 (KJV)
