Borrowed Grace
I. The Illusion of Borrowed Grace
Many today are walking not in saving grace, but in borrowed grace, a season of withheld judgment extended by the longsuffering of God. This counterfeit comfort stems from idol worship, not in the form of golden calves, but the gods of self, wealth, convenience, and tradition. The prophet Ezekiel warned against the delusions of those who make idols with their own hands:
"Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?" (Ezekiel 14:3, KJV)
Just as in Israel's day, many ignore God's voice through His prophets, clinging instead to false peace and spiritual complacency. But God will soon manifest in the natural what He has long spoken to the spirit, judgment begins at the house of God (1 Peter 4:17).
II. The Message and the Messenger
Those sent by God to warn and to reap are not responsible for who receives the Word. Obedience, not popularity, is their calling. Christ said:
"And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet." (Matthew 10:14, KJV)
Each person has been given the dignity of choice, free will to either walk with Christ or deny Him. Those who receive salvation must be discipled, not abandoned. Their identity in Christ must be watered and guarded:
"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." (1 Peter 2:2, KJV)
Yet the time has come when the saints must graduate from milk to meat. The harvest requires mature warriors.
III. Meat for the Mature, Milk for the Lambs
To those called to lead, the Holy Spirit offers deep revelation, the meat of the Kingdom. But this meat must be digested, discerned, and prepared in a form palatable for the new believer. Paul taught:
"I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it..." (1 Corinthians 3:2, KJV)
Mature believers must consume, metabolize, and then distribute the Word in wisdom. They are not merely conduits of doctrine, but spiritual mothers and fathers who labor until Christ be formed in their disciples (Galatians 4:19).
IV. A Shaking in the House of God
The Church is being sifted. Lukewarmness will no longer be tolerated. The Spirit is shaking pulpits, purging the dross, and preparing a remnant. Those who truly carry the Word will speak it with piercing clarity. The Shepherd’s voice through His chosen vessels will ignite repentance in the prodigal and expose the lukewarm.
"Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?" (Jeremiah 23:29, KJV)
The Warrior Army is rising, not to conquer by force, but to collect spoils, the souls once enslaved by darkness now rushing into barns of safety.
V. Winter is Coming
A prophetic winter is upon us, a season where divine judgment will fall like a blizzard, beautiful and destructive. Yet to the faithful, it is also a confirmation that the Lord has gone before them. The Body must now be fixed on the Rock, the Cornerstone:
"Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste." (Isaiah 28:16, KJV)
As Isaiah declared, the righteous must not panic, but walk in step with the still, small voice, never swerving left or right (Isaiah 30:21).
VI. Call to Repentance
The grace period is closing. The Lord desires not the death of the wicked, but their repentance. Every shaking, every word, every warning is His mercy crying out:
"Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live..." (Ezekiel 33:11, KJV)
The idols must be cast down. The milk must give way to meat. The shaking must be followed by surrender.
VII. Gospel Invitation
All have sinned.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23, KJV)
Sin brings death.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23, KJV)
Jesus paid the price.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8, KJV)
Confess and believe.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9, KJV)
Today is the day of salvation. Let the shaking awaken you. Let the Spirit sanctify you. Let the Savior redeem you.
