One Study: Revelation, Jeremiah, Ezekiel Aligned
I. The Same Judge, The Same Standard
Revelation reveals the final court session. Jeremiah and Ezekiel show the case file: covenant rebellion, idolatry, bloodguilt, false shepherds, and the holiness of God.
Key alignment
-
Jeremiah and Ezekiel: God prosecutes His people and the nations for covenant-breaking.
-
Revelation: God completes judgment and vindicates His name in all the earth.
KJV anchor
Romans 3:19
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
II. Babylon: The Harlot City and the Pattern of Fallen Powers
Jeremiah pronounces judgment on historical Babylon, but his language becomes a template for Revelation’s end-time “Babylon” system: arrogant, wealthy, oppressive, idolatrous, and doomed.
A. Jeremiah’s Babylon Judgment Pattern
Jeremiah 51:7
Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
Jeremiah 51:8
Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.
B. Revelation’s End-Time Babylon
Revelation 18:2
And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
Revelation 18:3
For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
Parallel insight
Jeremiah gives the “type.” Revelation gives the “final form.” The same intoxication of nations, the same sudden fall, the same spiritual uncleanness exposed.
III. False Prophets and Deceptive Religion: Lies as a Last-Days Weapon
Jeremiah confronts prophets who speak “peace” while judgment is at the door. Ezekiel confronts prophets who daub a fragile wall with “untempered mortar.” Revelation shows deception reaching global scale through the beast and false prophet.
A. Jeremiah: Peace When There Is No Peace
Jeremiah 6:14
They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
B. Ezekiel: Untempered Mortar Religion
Ezekiel 13:10
Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:
Ezekiel 13:11
Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.
C. Revelation: Worldwide Deception
Revelation 13:13
And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Revelation 13:14
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Parallel insight
Jeremiah and Ezekiel expose the lying spirit inside compromised religion. Revelation shows that same lie reaching its end-time apex.
IV. The Marked People: Sealing, Ownership, and Protection
Ezekiel depicts a mark placed on those who sigh and cry over abominations, distinguishing the faithful before judgment. Revelation depicts God sealing His servants before the winds of judgment blow.
A. Ezekiel: Marked for Mercy
Ezekiel 9:4
And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
Ezekiel 9:6
Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
B. Revelation: Sealed Servants
Revelation 7:3
Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Parallel insight
In both books, the forehead seal is about ownership and distinction: God knows His own in the hour of shaking.
V. The Sword, Famine, Pestilence: Covenant Curses Reaching Their Climax
Jeremiah and Ezekiel repeatedly warn of a triad: sword, famine, pestilence. Revelation’s seals intensify the same pattern on a global scale.
A. Ezekiel: The Four Sore Judgments
Ezekiel 14:21
For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
B. Revelation: The Pale Horse
Revelation 6:8
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
Parallel insight
Ezekiel names the covenant curse tools. Revelation shows their final escalation and scope.
VI. The Cup of Wrath: God’s Measured, Holy Anger
Jeremiah uses the “cup” image of divine wrath on nations. Revelation uses the “cup” and “vials” to show wrath completed.
A. Jeremiah: Nations Drink the Cup
Jeremiah 25:15
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.
B. Revelation: The Cup of His Indignation
Revelation 14:10
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Parallel insight
Jeremiah shows wrath beginning in history. Revelation shows wrath reaching completion under the Lamb’s authority.
VII. The Fall of Shepherds: Leaders Judged for Scattering the Flock
Jeremiah indicts shepherds who destroy and scatter. Ezekiel expands this into a major end-time theme: God Himself will search for His sheep. Revelation shows the faithful preserved, the corrupt powers judged, and the Lamb shepherding forever.
A. Jeremiah: Shepherds Condemned
Jeremiah 23:1
Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 23:2
Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
B. Ezekiel: God Replaces False Shepherds
Ezekiel 34:11
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
C. Revelation: The Lamb Shepherds
Revelation 7:17
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Parallel insight
Revelation’s comfort is Ezekiel’s promise fulfilled: God personally shepherds the redeemed.
VIII. The Final Invader and the Final War: Gog and the End-Time Gathering
Ezekiel describes Gog’s invasion and defeat. Revelation describes the final gathering and crushing judgment. The geography and timing are debated among interpreters, but the structural parallel is clear: God draws arrogant powers into a decisive defeat that magnifies His holiness.
A. Ezekiel: Gog Defeated
Ezekiel 38:23
Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
B. Revelation: Nations Gathered for the End
Revelation 20:8
And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Revelation 20:9
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
Parallel insight
Ezekiel and Revelation agree on the end: God ends the threat decisively, and His name is vindicated.
IX. The New Covenant and the New Heart: The Only Way a People Survive Judgment
Jeremiah promises the New Covenant. Ezekiel promises a new heart and Spirit. Revelation shows the final reality: a cleansed people, a holy city, and God dwelling with them.
A. Jeremiah: The New Covenant
Jeremiah 31:33
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
B. Ezekiel: New Heart, New Spirit
Ezekiel 36:26
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:27
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
C. Revelation: God Dwells With His People
Revelation 21:3
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Parallel insight
End-times prophecy is not mainly about charts. It is about covenant transformation that produces a holy people fit for God’s presence.
X. Watchmen and Witness: Truth That Must Be Spoken
Ezekiel is appointed a watchman. Revelation shows a prophetic people who overcome by testimony. The end-time pattern includes warning, endurance, and faithful proclamation.
A. Ezekiel: The Watchman Charge
Ezekiel 33:7
So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
B. Revelation: Overcoming by Testimony
Revelation 12:11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Parallel insight
Those who endure are not silent. They fear God more than consequences.
Discernment Guardrails
God commands discernment. Do not outsource your conscience. Test what you hear against Scripture.
1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Call to Repentance
If Jeremiah and Ezekiel teach anything, it is that judgment begins with God’s house, and repentance is not a mood. It is a turning. Revelation repeats it: “Repent” is a end-time word.
Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Turn from secret sin. Turn from idolatry that steals your worship. Turn from compromise that dulls your fear of God. Turn from lies you want to be true. Ask for a clean heart and a right spirit. The hour is late, and a borrowed faith will not stand.
The Gospel and the Only Safe Refuge in the End
Jesus Christ is not only the Judge in Revelation. He is the Savior offered now. He took wrath for sinners, rose again, and saves to the uttermost all who come to God by Him.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Call on Him honestly. Confess Jesus as Lord. Believe God raised Him from the dead. Ask Him to forgive you, cleanse you, and make you His. Then walk in obedience, not to earn salvation, but because you have been rescued.
