The Latter Rain
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away… and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John 14:12 (KJV)
We are living in a prophetic hour where many sense a spiritual shift yet cannot explain it. There is a heightened awareness, an increased stirring, a pressing and shaking that has not been accidental.
Scripture speaks of seasons when God intensifies His manifest presence among His people. These seasons are not for spectacle. They are for preparation.
I. Pressed Down and Shaken Together
Jesus declared:
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over.” Luke 6:38 (KJV)
Before increase comes pressing. Before overflow comes shaking.
Throughout history, revival has followed refinement. The early church was persecuted before Pentecost power spread across nations. Israel wandered before entering promise. The Bride is purified before the Bridegroom appears.
Hebrews tells us:
“Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.” Hebrews 12:26 (KJV)
We see shaking today in political systems, economic instability, technological upheaval, moral confusion, and global unrest. But beneath visible turmoil is divine preparation.
God shakes what can be shaken so that what is unshakable remains.
II. Thy Kingdom Come
The prayer of the Lord has echoed for generations:
“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 (KJV)
The Kingdom does not descend in abstraction. It advances through surrendered vessels.
Acts records:
“And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.” Acts 4:33 (KJV)
Great grace accompanies great power.
When the Spirit moves in greater proportion, fruit follows. Jesus said:
“By their fruits ye shall know them.” Matthew 7:20 (KJV)
Greater presence produces greater fruit. Healing, deliverance, restoration, and renewed minds are not marketing slogans. They are biblical realities.
“These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils… they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17–18 (KJV)
The fruit authenticates the presence.
III. The Latter Rain
Joel prophesied:
“Be glad then, ye children of Zion… for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain.” Joel 2:23 (KJV)
James affirms:
“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord… until he receive the early and latter rain.” James 5:7 (KJV)
The latter rain points to an intensified outpouring preceding the Lord’s return. Historically, movements of awakening have preceded major shifts in global history. Today we witness unprecedented global communication, rapid dissemination of information, and spiritual hunger across continents.
Technology spreads deception quickly, but it also spreads the gospel swiftly. What once took decades now takes seconds.
The latter rain is not chaos. It is preparation.
IV. Greater Glory, Gradual Revelation
God does not reveal His fullness all at once.
When Moses requested to see His glory:
“Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.” Exodus 33:20 (KJV)
The Lord reveals Himself progressively, preparing His people for greater capacity.
Paul wrote:
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed… from glory to glory.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)
Capacity expands through surrender. Authority flows through humility. Stewardship becomes essential.
Jesus warned:
“Unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” Luke 12:48 (KJV)
Increased presence demands increased responsibility.
V. The World Brought to Its Knees
Scripture reveals that before the return of Christ, the world experiences distress.
“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world.” Matthew 24:21 (KJV)
Yet this distress serves a redemptive purpose.
“When thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” Isaiah 26:9 (KJV)
As darkness intensifies, light becomes unmistakable.
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.” Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
When believers carry authentic presence, the world recognizes it.
“And they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 (KJV)
The preparation of the Bride includes authority, joy, and endurance. Yet it also includes warning. Sorrow will touch nations. Judgment exposes what is counterfeit.
VI. Joy in the Midst of Sorrow
Jesus promised:
“Your sorrow shall be turned into joy.” John 16:20 (KJV)
The joy of the Lord sustains.
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)
Even when sorrow touches the earth, those anchored in Christ walk in supernatural joy.
A Call to Repentance
The hour is not for passive observation. It is for surrender.
Return to your first love. Remove compromise. Yield fully to the Spirit. Do not resist the pressing. Do not waste the shaking.
Prepare your vessel. Steward the glory. Walk in holiness.
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14 (KJV)
The Gospel Invitation
All have sinned.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Sin brings death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Jesus paid the price.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Confess and believe.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Turn from sin. Believe in Christ. Receive eternal life. Be filled with His Spirit.
Conclusion
We have stepped into a season of intensified grace and intensified responsibility. The latter rain is falling. The Bride is being prepared. The world is being shaken.
Greater works are not human ambition. They are divine promise.
Stand firm. Walk surrendered. Steward the presence.
The King is near.
