The Shepherd’s Call

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1 (KJV)

There is a cry rising in the night.

It is not merely political unrest or economic anxiety. It is the quiet sobbing of souls. It is fear settling into hearts. It is the trembling of nations sensing instability beneath their foundations.

Scripture teaches that when distress increases, hearts often fail for fear.

“Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.” Luke 21:26 (KJV)

We are witnessing escalating wars, volcanic unrest, earthquakes, global instability, digital surveillance expansion, and economic volatility. These are not isolated events. They are signs of a world groaning.

“For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” Romans 8:22 (KJV)

Yet in the midst of trembling nations, the Shepherd speaks.

I. The Little Lambs and the Abundant Life

Christ did not come to intensify fear. He came to give life.

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 (KJV)

He is not merely a comforter in crisis. He is the Way through it.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 (KJV)

To those broken by anxiety, grief, or spiritual exhaustion, the message remains unchanged.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

The emergency many sense externally reflects a deeper spiritual emergency internally.

II. Watchmen and Warnings

God has always raised watchmen before judgment.

“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman… therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.” Ezekiel 3:17 (KJV)

In Noah’s day, warnings were dismissed.

“For as in the days that were before the flood… and knew not until the flood came.” Matthew 24:38–39 (KJV)

Prophetic warning is not entertainment. It is mercy.

Yet Scripture describes people who see but do not perceive.

“Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive.” Matthew 13:14 (KJV)

Today, alarms sound across the globe. Economic experts warn. Military analysts caution. Scientists forecast disasters. Spiritual watchmen proclaim repentance. Still, many refuse preparation of the heart.

III. Speak Truth to Lies, Peace to Fear

Fear is contagious. But so is faith.

“God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

When lies circulate, truth must be declared.

When brokenness dominates, wholeness must be proclaimed.

Peace is not absence of chaos. It is divine stability in it.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.” Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

The remnant is called not to panic but to stand.

“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid.” Joshua 1:9 (KJV)

IV. Dominion in the Midst of Crisis

Scripture reveals a paradox. In times of darkness, God raises His faithful.

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come… For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee.” Isaiah 60:1–2 (KJV)

The faithful are not exempt from turbulence, but they are positioned for testimony.

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.” Psalm 23:5 (KJV)

The world will eventually recognize those who have walked with God.

“And they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 (KJV)

Authority in crisis does not come from human strength. It comes from abiding in Christ.

V. The Broad Path and the Narrow Door

National emergency often reveals spiritual emergency.

“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life.” Matthew 7:14 (KJV)

Those who reject warning reap consequences.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

The door of mercy remains open, but Scripture is clear that it will not remain so indefinitely.

“And the door was shut.” Matthew 25:10 (KJV)

A Call to Repentance

If fear grips your heart, do not ignore it. Let it drive you to repentance.

If you have grown lukewarm, return now.

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19 (KJV)

Prepare your heart more urgently than your supplies. Anchor yourself in Christ more firmly than in systems.

The Gospel Invitation

All have sinned.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (KJV)

Sin brings death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)

Jesus paid the price.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (KJV)

Confess and believe.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (KJV)

Turn to Him. Believe in Him. Be saved while mercy still calls.

Conclusion

An SOS cry rises from broken hearts and trembling nations. The alarms are sounding. The shaking approaches.

But the Shepherd still calls His lambs.

Run to Him. Stand in His authority. Anchor in the Rock. The international emergency of the soul must be answered before the shaking becomes irreversible.

The door remains open. Enter while you may.
