The Wedding and the Shaking
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.” Revelation 19:7 (KJV)
There is anticipation in Heaven. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb has been prepared. The table is set. The celebration is certain. Yet before the Bride walks down that eternal aisle, Scripture reveals a sobering truth: there must be a shaking.
We are living in the days where preparation and purification walk hand in hand.
I. The Threshing Floor Before the Wedding
Throughout Scripture, the threshing floor represents separation, purification, and judgment. Wheat is separated from chaff. The valuable is preserved. The worthless is blown away.
“Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Matthew 3:12 (KJV)
The Bride must be refined. Not all who profess faith possess oil. Not all who gather are ready.
Jesus warned:
“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.” Matthew 25:1 (KJV)
Five were wise. Five were foolish. The difference was oil. Intimacy. Preparation. Perseverance.
In our generation, many assume life will continue uninterrupted. Yet Scripture warns of increasing birth pangs.
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” Matthew 24:7 (KJV)
Wars expand. Civil unrest grows. Economic systems tremble. Diseases emerge. Global instability has become normalized. But these are not random events. They are tremors preceding divine intervention.
II. The Purpose of the Shaking
The shaking is not cruelty. It is mercy.
“Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.” Hebrews 12:26 (KJV)
“And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken… that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.” Hebrews 12:27 (KJV)
God removes what is temporary to reveal what is eternal.
When false security collapses, eternal truth becomes visible. When idols fall, hearts are exposed. When systems fail, the Rock remains.
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.” Psalm 18:2 (KJV)
The dark days serve as a final call. A merciful extension. The Father delays judgment so that none who desire salvation are left without opportunity.
“The Lord is… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
III. The Bride’s Secret Place in Chaotic Times
As chaos increases, intimacy must increase.
Jesus instructed:
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret.” Matthew 6:6 (KJV)
Noise will intensify. Media will amplify fear. Nations will tremble. But the Bride survives not by information, but by revelation.
Her lamp remains lit because she stays in the secret place.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1 (KJV)
Angelic protection is not fantasy. It is promise.
“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” Psalm 91:11 (KJV)
The Bride is not exempt from sorrow. There will be grief. There will be loss. But she stands anchored.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
IV. The Increasing Sorrows and the Certain Return
Scripture declares that darkness will intensify before the glorious appearing.
“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world.” Matthew 24:21 (KJV)
Yet the Bride does not despair. She prepares.
“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3 (KJV)
The return of Christ is not myth. It is the culmination of prophecy.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (KJV)
The Bridegroom comes. The question is not if, but when.
V. A Call to Repentance
If your lamp is empty, now is the time to refill it. If your heart has grown cold, now is the time to return.
“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” Isaiah 55:6 (KJV)
The shaking will reveal what is real. Do not wait until the door closes.
“And the door was shut.” Matthew 25:10 (KJV)
Today is mercy extended. Tomorrow is not promised.
The Gospel: The Only Way to Be Ready
All have sinned.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Sin brings death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
Jesus paid the price.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Confess and believe.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Salvation is not earned. It is received. Repent of your sin. Turn from self-rule. Trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Be filled with His Spirit. Walk in obedience.
Conclusion: The Wedding Is Coming
Heaven is prepared. The feast is ready. But first comes the threshing floor. The shaking. The separation.
The Bride who remains faithful will stand unshaken.
Anchor yourself in the Rock. Keep oil in your lamp. Abide in the secret place. Stand strong and courageous.
The Bridegroom is nearer than most realize.
Be ready.
