Are We Being Played? A Biblical Perspective on Politics, Power, and the Kingdom of Darkness
Introduction: The Illusion of Choice
Many people believe they are choosing between good and evil when they engage in politics. Conservatives often claim to represent Christian values, while liberals argue for social justice and progress. However, the Bible warns us that the entire world system is under Satan’s control—not just one side of the political spectrum.
1 John 5:19 (KJV) – "And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness."
🔹 This verse reminds us that every human system is corrupt, and our true allegiance should be to Christ—not political parties.
1. Satan's Authority Over Earthly Kingdoms
Many forget that when Jesus was tempted by Satan, the devil offered Him all the kingdoms of the world.
Matthew 4:8-9 (KJV) – "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me."
🔹 Two important truths from this passage:
1️⃣ Satan desires worship. This is his ultimate goal—whether directly (through false religions) or indirectly (by leading people away from God).
2️⃣ Satan has authority over the world’s political systems. He could not have offered Jesus control if he didn’t already own it!
💡 This means that every major political system is under the influence of the enemy.
2. There Is No Left or Right—Only the Kingdom of God vs. the Kingdom of Darkness
Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) – "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
🔹 Every government, corporation, and organization is ultimately under spiritual influences—either for God or against Him.
🔹 Satan strategically uses politics to deceive people into thinking they are choosing a righteous cause—when in reality, both sides serve his ultimate agenda.
💡 The real war is not between political parties but between God’s Kingdom and Satan’s deception.
3. The Deception of a “Good” Political Leader
Many Christians say, “We’re not voting for a pastor, we’re voting for a president.” While it is true that no political leader will be perfect, we must be careful not to put our faith in human rulers to restore righteousness.
Psalm 118:8-9 (KJV) – "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes."
🔹 No politician can "save" a nation—only Christ can truly transform hearts and bring real justice.
🔹 Both sides of the political system are designed to funnel people into a false sense of security.
💡 What if Satan has set up a system that deceives people into thinking they are fighting for good—when in reality, they are just choosing between two evils?
4. The False Hope of Fixing America
Many Christians believe that if the “right” candidate is elected, then America will be restored. But the Bible warns us that the world will continue to grow darker until Christ returns.
2 Timothy 3:1-4 (KJV) – "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God."
🔹 The moral decay we see in the world today is a fulfillment of prophecy.
🔹 No political movement can stop what has been foretold—only the return of Christ will bring true justice and righteousness.
💡 Instead of trying to “fix” a broken system, Christians should focus on spreading the Gospel and preparing for Christ’s return.
5. The Ultimate Choice: Christ or the World
The only real choice that matters is whether you serve God or the world system (which is under Satan’s control).
Joshua 24:15 (KJV) – "Choose you this day whom ye will serve... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
🔹 There is no "middle ground" in spiritual warfare.
🔹 If you are not following Christ, you are following the enemy—whether you realize it or not.
💡 We must shift our focus from politics to the Kingdom of God.
6. The Call to Repentance: The Gospel of Jesus Christ
Many people are caught up in political distractions, but the most important issue is your eternal destiny.
Acts 17:30 (KJV) – "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent."
The Gospel Message
1️⃣ We are all sinners.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
2️⃣ Sin leads to death and separation from God.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
3️⃣ Jesus Christ died and rose again to save us.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
4️⃣ Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)
7. Final Thoughts: Are You Ready for Christ’s Return?
Matthew 24:42 (KJV) – "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come."
📢 The world is being set up for deception. Are you spiritually awake?
🔹 Political leaders cannot save you—only Jesus Christ can.
🔹 There is no “lesser evil”—there is only choosing Christ or choosing the world.
🔹 Now is the time to repent, believe, and prepare for His return.
