Wisdom Is Calling: Will You Listen?

“Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?” Proverbs 8:1 (KJV) Many people spend their lives searching for wisdom. They seek advice from friends. They consume endless content. They analyze every possible outcome. Yet Proverbs presents a surprising truth: Wisdom is not hiding. Wisdom is calling. The real question is not whether wisdom is available. The question is whether we are willing to listen. I. Wisdom Is More Than Knowledge Knowledge and wisdom are not identical. Knowledge is knowing truth. Wisdom is applying truth. A person can memorize Scripture, quote theology, and understand doctrine while still making foolish decisions. Jesus said: “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” John 13:17 (KJV) Biblical wisdom always moves beyond information into obedience. II. Wisdom Is Available to Everyone Proverbs 8 portrays wisdom as publicly calling out. Wisdom is not reserved for scholars. It is not hidden from ordinary people. God desires His people to walk i...

Faithfulness In Small Things

“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise.” Proverbs 6:6 (KJV) When people think of wisdom, they often imagine kings, scholars, or great leaders. Yet in Proverbs 6, God points us to something remarkably small: An ant. Why would God use an ant as an example of wisdom? Because wisdom is not always found in impressive things. Sometimes wisdom is found in simple faithfulness. I. The Ant Does What It Was Created to Do Ants are not powerful. They are not admired for strength. They are not known for influence. Yet they faithfully accomplish the purpose for which they were created. Day after day. Without applause. Without recognition. Without excuses. God calls this wisdom. II. Laziness Is Not Only Physical Laziness is not always physical. Many people are busy while remaining spiritually inactive. Spiritual laziness often sounds like: • "I'll pray tomorrow." • "I'll read Scripture later." • "I'll deal with that sin eve...

Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10 (KJV) We live in an age of constant noise. Notifications. Social media. Streaming platforms. News cycles. Endless entertainment. Many people can scroll for hours without difficulty. Yet five minutes of silence before God feels unbearable. Why? Because silence exposes what distractions conceal. The very things we spend our lives trying to avoid often rise to the surface when the noise finally stops. And that is precisely why stillness is so important. I. God Has Always Called His People Into Stillness Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly calls His people away from noise and into His presence. “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10 (KJV) Notice that God does not say: • Be busy and know I am God. • Be entertained and know I am God. • Be distracted and know I am God. He says: “Be still.” Stillness creates awareness. It slows the soul enough to recognize God's presence. II. Why Silence Feels Uncomfortable Many people assume silenc...
