The Truth About Salvation: Faith, Obedience, and the Deception of Easy Grace
A War in the Spirit: Standing for Truth in the Face of Opposition
The last days of great spiritual battle, as many people began to manifest resistance to the message of repentance, obedience, and true salvation. As we engage in this war, it is essential to recognize that Satan does not want people to walk in holiness—he wants them deceived, believing in an easy, unaccountable gospel that does not demand transformation.
- Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
- 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV) – “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
This battle is not against people but against deception, and one of the greatest deceptions infiltrating the modern church is the false doctrine of "Once Saved, Always Saved" (OSAS).
The Example of Stephen: Preaching to a Stiff-Necked People
Stephen, the first Christian martyr, faced opposition when he preached against spiritual complacency and hypocrisy.
- Acts 7:51-52 (KJV) – “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”
Stephen was stoned for calling out those who claimed to follow God but refused to obey Him. Likewise, today, those who speak the truth about obedience, holiness, and the cost of following Jesus will face backlash from those who only want the parts of the Gospel that suit them.
The Danger of the "Once Saved, Always Saved" Doctrine
One of the most deceptive doctrines circulating in churches today is OSAS, which gives believers a false sense of security, making them think they can live in willful sin without consequence. While salvation is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), the Bible makes it clear that faith without works is dead (James 2:17).
Jesus Taught That Obedience Matters
- John 14:15 (KJV) – “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
- Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV) – “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Jesus explicitly warned that calling Him Lord is not enough—one must also do the will of the Father.
The Call to Holiness: You Cannot Hide Sin
- Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) – “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
OSAS encourages people to hide sin instead of confessing and forsaking it. The Bible warns that if we live in sin, we are not in Christ:
- 1 John 3:6 (KJV) – “Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.”
The true Gospel transforms. If salvation does not lead to repentance, it is not true salvation.
Jeremiah 7: A Warning to Complacent Believers
Jeremiah 7 provides a striking parallel to today’s church. God rebuked the Israelites for their false sense of security, thinking they could sin and still claim to be God's people.
- Jeremiah 7:9-10 (KJV) – “Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?”
This is precisely what OSAS teaches—that people can live in sin and still claim they are "delivered." God calls for true repentance and obedience, not false security.
Paul’s Teaching: Salvation is Conditional on Endurance
Paul himself warned that even he could be disqualified if he did not continue in righteousness:
- 1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV) – “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
If OSAS were true, Paul would not have warned about becoming a castaway. He knew that remaining in Christ requires obedience and discipline.
Twisting Scripture: The Spirit of Leviathan
When the Lord revealed the twisting serpent, it was a reference to Leviathan, a demonic spirit that twists truth.
- Job 41:1,19 (KJV) – “Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? … Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.”
The OSAS doctrine operates under this spirit—it twists a handful of scriptures while ignoring the overwhelming number of verses that emphasize obedience, repentance, and endurance.
Jesus' Warnings About Falling Away
Jesus Himself warned that believers can fall away:
- Luke 8:13 (KJV) – “They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.”
Falling away is not just hypothetical—Jesus said it would happen.
A Call to Repentance: Will You Continue in Sin?
Many in the church are deceived into thinking that grace means they can live however they want. But the grace of God teaches us to deny sin:
- Titus 2:11-12 (KJV) – “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.”
If grace is truly active in your life, it will transform you. If you are still living in sin without conviction, you need to examine your salvation.
The Gospel: A Call to True Faith
- All Have Sinned
- Romans 3:23 (KJV) – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
- The Wages of Sin is Death
- Romans 6:23 (KJV) – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
- Jesus is the Only Way to Salvation
- John 14:6 (KJV) – “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
- Salvation Requires Repentance and Faith
- Acts 3:19 (KJV) – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”
- Endure Until the End
- Matthew 24:13 (KJV) – “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
Final Call: Are You Truly in Christ?
The time is short. Examine your heart. Are you living in repentance? Or are you trusting in a false assurance that allows you to continue in sin?
- 2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV) – “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”
🔹 If you have been trusting in OSAS, repent today.
🔹 Surrender fully to Jesus and walk in righteousness.
🔹 Time is running out—seek the Lord while He may be found!
🙏 Come to Jesus today. He is calling.
