As the Waters Cover the Sea: The Coming Knowledge of the Glory of the Lord

“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord,
as the waters cover the sea.”

Habakkuk 2:14, KJV

These ancient words from the prophet Habakkuk are more relevant now than ever. They speak of a future global awakening—not just of religious belief, but of a deep and undeniable awareness of the glory of God.

The knowledge of God is not reserved for scholars or church leaders. The day is coming when all will see Him for who He is. The question is not if the world will know Him, but how they will know Him:
as Savior—or as Judge.

The Earth Speaks: General Revelation Declares His Glory

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
Psalm 19:1, KJV

Everywhere you look, God has written His name into creation. This is called general revelation—the truth of God made plain through nature, history, and the order of the world.

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made,
even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”

Romans 1:20, KJV

Look at a tree. It starts as a seed, buried in the dark soil. Over years and decades, it grows upward toward the light—rooted, strengthened, and bearing fruit. This simple tree becomes a living sermon of the Christian life, illustrating God’s wisdom in both growth and waiting.

Special Revelation: The Word Reveals His Heart

While general revelation shows us that God is, special revelation tells us who He is.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16, KJV

The Bible is not just an old book. It is living truth—revealing the character, will, and plan of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is the lens through which we interpret the world, understand His promises, and prepare for what is coming.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105, KJV

And now, thanks to technology, the Word of God is more accessible than ever. With a Bible in your hand—or a Bible app on your phone—no one can say they didn’t have the opportunity to seek Him.

Prophetic Fulfillment: The Knowledge Will Cover the Earth

Habakkuk 2:14 isn’t poetic exaggeration—it’s prophetic certainty. The Bible consistently points to a future where Christ will reign and every knee shall bow.

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”

Philippians 2:10–11, KJV

In a world filled with artificial intelligence, global instability, and spiritual confusion, this truth must ground us: the knowledge of God will flood the earth like the sea.
No nation, culture, or ideology will stand untouched.

But will you experience that moment in joyful awe—or in eternal regret?

A Call to Repentance: Time Is Running Out

“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.”
Isaiah 55:6, KJV

Now is the time to get right with God. Not tomorrow. Not “when you’re ready.” Because tomorrow is not promised.

Eternal separation from God is not a scare tactic—it is the just consequence of rejecting the gift of salvation. The glory of the Lord will not be ignored. It will fill the earth, and those who refuse His mercy will face His judgment.

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life
was cast into the lake of fire.”

Revelation 20:15, KJV

The Gospel: Jesus Is the Way, the Truth, and the Life

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23, KJV

Sin separates us from a holy God. But God, in His mercy, sent His Son—Jesus Christ—to bear our sin on the cross. He died, was buried, and rose again on the third day. And now, salvation is offered to all who will receive it.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.”

Romans 10:9, KJV

Don’t delay. If God is tugging on your heart, respond now. Confess your sin. Repent. Call upon the name of Jesus. And your name will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Final Word: His Glory Is Coming—Will You Be Ready?

We are fast approaching a time when every eye will see. The glory of God will not be hidden.
It will cover the earth, and it will either bring peace to the redeemed or terror to the rebellious.

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him...”
Revelation 1:7, KJV

Let today be the day you choose to walk in His light.
