Birth Pains and the Blessed Hope: Are We Living in Matthew 24 Right Now?
“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars… all these are the beginning of sorrows.”
— Matthew 24:6, 8, KJV
Everywhere we turn, the signs are multiplying: wars and unrest, famines and earthquakes, deception and division, a chilling rise in hatred and lawlessness. If you’ve felt the urgency in the air and the shifting of the times, you’re not imagining it. According to Jesus in Matthew 24, these are the “beginning of sorrows”—the prophetic birth pains that precede His return.
The Prophecy Is Unfolding Before Our Eyes
“Take heed that no man deceive you.”
— Matthew 24:4, KJV
Jesus warned that many would come in His name, deceiving multitudes. Today, false messiahs, false prophets, and false teachers abound. From New Age spirituality to hyper-progressive churches preaching another gospel, deception is no longer subtle—it’s celebrated.
“Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars… nation shall rise against nation.”
— Matthew 24:6–7, KJV
Global conflict is escalating. From Eastern Europe to the Middle East, from civil unrest to cyber warfare, the world is groaning. Nation is rising against nation—politically, ideologically, economically.
“There shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”
— Matthew 24:7, KJV
The earth is in travail: food shortages, economic collapses, deadly viruses, and catastrophic natural disasters. These are not random. They are prophetic contractions, growing in frequency and intensity.
Like Labor Pains Before Birth
“All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
— Matthew 24:8, KJV
The Greek word for “sorrows” (ōdin) is the word for birth pains. Just as labor begins slowly and intensifies, so too do the signs of Christ’s return. They come in waves. And right now, the waves are closer and stronger than ever.
Every moment is a contraction. And every contraction means we are closer to the return of the Son of Man.
The Great Falling Away
“And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.”
— Matthew 24:10, KJV
We are witnessing the great apostasy. People once on fire for God are turning away. Churches once built on truth now cater to the world. Hatred and betrayal, even within families and among believers, are rising.
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
— Matthew 24:12, KJV
Hearts are hardening. Compassion is fading. The moral compass is shattered. People are growing numb—because lawlessness is now normalized.
The Gospel Will Be Preached to the Ends of the Earth
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world… and then shall the end come.”
— Matthew 24:14, KJV
Right now, the Bible is being translated into nearly every known language. Digital technology, underground churches, global missions—the Word of God is reaching every tribe, nation, and tongue.
We are not waiting for prophecy to begin. We are living in its fulfillment.
The Next Prophetic Event: The Rapture
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air...”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:17, KJV
The rapture is imminent. It is the next major event on the prophetic timeline. And it will happen in the twinkling of an eye (1 Corinthians 15:52). Those who belong to Jesus—sealed by His Spirit—will be removed before the tribulation, the time of God’s wrath.
This is not a scare tactic. It’s a gracious warning from a God who longs to save, not destroy.
God’s Plea to a Dying World
“Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live...”
— Ezekiel 33:11, KJV
The only reason the rapture hasn’t happened yet is because of God’s mercy. Every moment He delays is a moment for someone—maybe you—to repent.
If you could hear the heart of God right now, it would sound like this:
“Are you sure you want to stay? Are you sure you want the world more than Me? Come with Me. Please, before it’s too late.”
You Are Not Promised Another Moment
“Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”
— Proverbs 27:1, KJV
You’re not guaranteed tomorrow. You’re not guaranteed your next breath. And if the rapture were to happen tonight, where would you be? Left behind in a world spiraling into judgment? Or safe in the arms of Jesus?
A Call to Repentance
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out...”
— Acts 3:19, KJV
Repentance isn’t about being perfect. It’s about surrendering your heart to God—admitting your sin, turning away from it, and turning toward Christ.
If you're feeling fear, that may be the Holy Spirit convicting your heart. Don’t ignore it. Let it draw you to Jesus.
The Gospel of Salvation
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23, KJV
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8, KJV
Salvation is not about being “good enough.” It’s about believing in the One who is perfect—Jesus Christ. He took your punishment on the cross and rose again, offering eternal life.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
— Romans 10:9, KJV
He’s Not Hiding from You
You don’t need a fancy prayer. You don’t need to clean yourself up first. He already sees you, knows you, and wants you—just as you are.
Just talk to Him. Right now. In your own words. He’s listening.
Final Plea: Don’t Wait
“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
— 2 Corinthians 6:2, KJV
Whether through the rapture or your last breath, eternity is one heartbeat away.
There are only two destinations when you leave this life: heaven or hell. Don’t gamble with your soul.
Jesus is calling.
He is near.
And He wants you with Him—forever.
