False Security, True Salvation — A Biblical Response to the Rise of Global Religious Deception
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
— Matthew 7:13–14, KJV
There was a moment captured on global media that struck me deeply—not because of the pomp or pageantry, but because of the faces. Faces beaming with joy, many in tears, celebrating the election of a new Pope. What grieved my spirit was not their sincerity, but their misplaced hope. These were souls rejoicing over a man, not the risen Christ. Souls swept up in tradition, religious spectacle, and reverence for a figure who claims spiritual authority, yet leads people away from the truth found in Scripture alone.
The words of Jesus from Matthew 7 immediately came to mind: “Wide is the gate… many there be which go in thereat.” The broad road is appealing. It offers comfort, ritual, and community. But the narrow path—faith in Jesus Christ alone, apart from man-made religion—is the only road that leads to eternal life.
The Fruits of False Prophets
Jesus warned us directly:
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.”
— Matthew 7:15–16, KJV
The institution of the papacy has long claimed to be the vicar of Christ on Earth, yet its fruit reveals compromise, idolatry, and allegiance to doctrines not rooted in Scripture. Examine the teachings and the traditions that have evolved—many of which contradict the Word of God. The veneration of Mary, indulgences, papal infallibility, and ecumenical alliances dilute the Gospel and exalt men in the place of Christ.
This deception is not isolated to one religion. It is a global phenomenon, a spiritual blindness prophesied in the last days:
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”
— 1 Timothy 4:1, KJV
Many Will Say to Me…
Perhaps the most sobering warning from our Lord is found later in Matthew 7:
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?... and then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
— Matthew 7:22–23, KJV
These verses describe people who were religious, active, and convinced of their own righteousness. But Christ did not recognize them—not because they once belonged to Him and wandered, but because He never knew them. Their trust was in their works, titles, and religious affiliation, not in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
This is the heartbreak of deception: that it feels safe. But safety without truth is deadly.
Why This Matters Now
The rise of global religious unity, false peace initiatives, and celebrity faith leaders are not random. They are prophesied precursors to the Antichrist system—a counterfeit kingdom that offers inclusion, but denies the power of the Gospel.
“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.”
— 2 Thessalonians 2:11, KJV
We are watching it unfold: masses celebrating false authority, putting their eternal hope in men rather than in the Savior who bore their sins.
A Call to Repentance
To those who have ears to hear, the Spirit still cries out:
“Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”
— Revelation 18:4, KJV
There is only one mediator between God and man—Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5). No priest, no Pope, no religious system can grant you forgiveness. That belongs to Christ alone. Turn away from empty religion and trust fully in the One who gave His life for yours.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
— Romans 10:9, KJV
Friend, do not delay. Eternal life is not found in tradition, but in truth. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ—do it today. Repent, believe the Gospel, and be saved. The gate is narrow, but it is open.
