No King but Christ: The Spiritual War Behind the Headlines

In recent years, protests have erupted across the nation with phrases like “No king but us” or “No king but resistance.” On the surface, these may seem like political slogans mere expressions of discontent with policy or leadership. But beneath the rhetoric lies something deeper, something ancient, something spiritual.

The rejection of Christ’s lordship is not new. It is the very root of rebellion that has echoed from Eden to Babel, from Jerusalem to Washington. What we are witnessing is not merely civil unrest. It is a manifestation of spiritual warfare a direct confrontation with the Kingship of Jesus Christ.

God Appoints Kings, Even When Man Objects

Scripture teaches that God establishes rulers not always to reward a nation, but sometimes to test it, expose it, or preserve a remnant.

“This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men,
and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”
(Daniel 4:17, KJV)

In other words, whether we understand or agree with who is in office, God is not passive. He uses both righteous and unrighteous rulers to fulfill His purposes.

To reject God’s sovereignty in political seasons is to reject the very truth that He rules above all kings. And in the end, no protest will override His plan.

The Demonization of Divine Order

When protesters rise up against the very notion of kingship, when they chant slogans of self-rule and autonomy, it reveals something far deeper than politics. It echoes Psalm 2:

“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”
(Psalm 2:2–3, KJV)

What follows in that same Psalm is God’s response:

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.”
(Psalm 2:4, KJV)

This rejection of divine order, of godly restraint, and of Christ Himself is not accidental. It is the result of demonic deception. And the spiritual battle is intensifying.

Politics as a Battlefield for the Soul

The battlefield has shifted. It's not just fought in churches or families it now rages in policy rooms, court rulings, education systems, and street protests. Satan is using politics to normalize deception, to legalize wickedness, and to silence righteousness.

Isaiah prophesied of such times:

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
(Isaiah 5:20, KJV)

What many call “progress” is often spiritual regression. What the world celebrates, heaven mourns. Yet in the midst of all this, God is not surprised and neither should we be. These things must come to pass.

Jesus Christ Will Not Be Voted Out

There is a war against truth. A war against order. A war against the Gospel. But the throne of God is not up for election, and Jesus Christ is not running for office. He is the King of kings.

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
(Revelation 19:16, KJV)

No amount of protest can dethrone the risen Christ. No legislation can silence His Word. No globalist agenda can cancel His return. And every knee whether it bows now or later will bow.

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.”
(Philippians 2:10, KJV)

A Call to Repentance

If you’ve aligned yourself with rebellion whether against God's authority, His moral law, or His Son it is time to turn. There is only one rightful King, and His name is Jesus.

Repentance is not just about behavior. It is about loyalty. To whom have you pledged your allegiance? To your political tribe? To your own desires? Or to the eternal Lord of glory?

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
(Acts 3:19, KJV)

The Gospel: The Way to Life Under the True King

Jesus Christ is not just a ruler. He is a Savior. And He offers mercy, even to those who once rejected Him.

All have sinned.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (KJV)

Sin brings death.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV)

Jesus paid the price.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (KJV)

Confess and believe.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (KJV)

Conclusion

Make no mistake the “No King” protests are not just political expressions. They are spiritual declarations of rebellion against the Lordship of Jesus Christ. But the response of the remnant must be just as bold: We have no king but Jesus.

Stand firm. Do not be swayed by deception. Recognize the war and fight with truth, prayer, repentance, and unwavering allegiance to the only King who reigns forever.

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
(Matthew 6:10, KJV)
